Martin’s place claims JFK proposed to Jackie O. at one of its booths, which we don’t recommend doing. Especially since you’re not JFK. But you could come here for something more casual. The space looks like it hasn’t been updated in a few decades, and that’s part of its appeal. There’s a dark wooden bar, stained glass light fixtures, and pictures and paintings of DC back in the day. The menu is a mix of American and pub food (expect things like potato skins and fish and chips), and while it isn’t life-changing, you’ll probably get a history lesson while you eat it.

Great views, excellent seafood, and a lot of money. Fiola Mare is where you go for a special occasion in Georgetown.
For a kind of healthy lunch in Georgetown, get some of the (surprisingly good) vegetarian tacos at Chaia.

The Fainting Goat
Fainting Goat isn’t great, but you’ll end up here at some point. When the time comes, go heavy on the drinks and light on the food.
Despite being in the middle of Adams Morgan craziness, Roofers Union is a great restaurant/bar/rooftop for a casual drink or dinner.
Bobby’s Burger Palace
For burgers in Foggy Bottom, we like Bobby’s. It works for a casual weeknight dinner or a Sunday-morning hangover cure.
