This place has the same naming issues as Shake Shack because while their coffee is great, it’s their toast that keeps us coming back. The slices of bread are super thick and covered in butter and cinnamon sugar in a way that, if you did this at home, it would probably take you a week to clean up. Then get a fresh coconut to wash it down or maybe actually opt for coffee instead because theirs is fantastic.

There’s always a line at Arizmendi Bakery in the Sunset, and their baked goods and breads are completely worth it.

Home Coffee Roasters
The laid-back coffee shop in the Outer Sunset serves vanilla lattes made to look like birthday cakes and rainbows.
Verve Coffee Roasters
Verve has a very nice space in the Castro and solid coffee and sandwiches too.
Suggested by our writers
San Tung is a Chinese restaurant in the Sunset with great chicken wings, but the entire menu is worth trying out.
Ritual Coffee Roasters
Use Ritual in Hayes Valley for an intense coffee run and maybe a croissant. It's a good place to do some work, but they don't have wifi.
