SF Chickenbox

(415) 509-9607

819 Valencia St

San Francisco, CA 94110

Fried chicken sandwiches abound in SF, but we’re partial to the ones from SF Chickenbox - they’re perfectly-fried and come on a soft, squishy bun. They also do an incredible macaroni salad, and little mochi muffins for dessert. And if you want to make at least one decision your future self won’t regret in the morning, throw in a 16-ounce bottle of their spicy and sweet Moombah sauce.

SF Chickenbox’s original fried chicken sandwich is a strong contender for our favorite sandwich, ever. And the beauty of it lies in its simplicity - and the fact that it nails all the pillars that make a great fried chicken sandwich: crunchy breading, juicy chicken, and a fresh, squishy bun. It comes with lettuce and house sauce, and it’s flawless. There’s also a version with jalapeño, hot sauce, and red onion, or a buffalo one with pickles and ranch. Whatever you order, it all goes well with Old Bay-seasoned fries and their chewy mochi muffin.

Olivia Tote ($15)

One of our favorite spots for fried chicken sandwiches has a super cute graphic on their tote. It’s a nod to the Mission (where SF Chickenbox is located), their mochi muffins, and, of course, the chicken.
