Ordering from Lily, a Vietnamese spot in the Richmond, is an incredible exercise in self-control. Everything on the menu sounds incredible, and there’s no way I could physically try it all in one sitting - which is why I’ve been back multiple times since my first visit, methodically working my way through the menu. Some dishes you shouldn’t miss: the duck chao, a warm bowl of rice porridge was topped with pomegranate seeds, cilantro, scallions, and its crown jewel: a beautiful, slow-cooked leg of duck I could pull apart with a spoon. Also, the chicken pho, which comes with a whole confit chicken leg on top, is a foolproof (and delicious) way to warm up on a chilly night. And don’t leave without an order of crispy duck confit egg rolls.
