This content is produced by The Infatuation in partnership with The Botanist.

Two words: perfect pairing. There’s no denying that the gin and tonic stands as one of the most iconic mixed drinks out there. And the only way to make it better? Using The Botanist Islay Dry Gin.

To celebrate the hopeful spring season and support local bars and restaurants as they rebuild for the future, The Botanist is donating $5 to the Independent Restaurant Coalition for every Botanist & Tonic sold during April and May, up to a total donation of $25,000. Kicking off on National Gin & Tonic Day on April 9, here are some participating locations to find a Botanist & Tonic in the Bay Area.

The Spots

Elixir

$$$$ 3200 16th St

Elixir has been open since at least 1858, if not longer, making it the second oldest saloon in San Francisco. Try a Botanist & Tonic at this spot in the Mission while absorbing the historic interior or sit outside at their parklet with lights and tables held by barrels.

True Laurel

$$$$
Bar Food  in  Mission
$$$$ 753 Alabama St

Crispy mushrooms, hot wings, and a casual feel all make True Laurel a great option for drinks and heaping portions of food. With their outdoor seating space, there’s also plenty of room to munch on bar nuts while you catch up with friends over cocktails.

Horsefeather

$$$$
American  in  Haight
$$$$ 528 Divisadero St

Much like the pairing of gin and tonic, Horsefeather’s green and earthy ambience pairs perfectly with a refreshing, herbal drink. The veranda, outdoor patio, and botanical space give the bar a friendly, neighborhood feel. With a variety of small plates, dishes, and cocktails to choose from, you’ll leave both full and eager to come back.

Rye

$$$$ 688 Geary St

Rye offers to-go cocktails, great service, and a good space to unwind. Once you step foot inside, the soft lighting makes for a cozy atmosphere that we keep coming back to. Choose a classic cocktail - like a gin and tonic - or one of their own crafted concoctions.

The Beehive

$$$$
Bar Food  in  Mission
$$$$ 842 Valencia St

Whip out your bell bottom jeans and head over to this ’60s-inspired Mission cocktail bar for drinks, snacks, and a fun retro vibe. They offer food, phenomenal drinks, and have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Lost Resort

$$$$ 2736 20th St

Mission District’s Lost Resort bar has a quieter feel with an outdoor back patio, plenty of heaters, and excellent crab rolls. Their craft cocktails range from boozy to light and fresh, with plenty of signature drinks along with the classics.

Kona's Street Market

$$$$ 32 3rd St

After a fire incident, the team from Pacific Cocktail Haven opened this new bar in SoMa. The convenient downtown location offers signature cocktails, shots, and a hefty beer selection.

Quik Dog

$$$$
American  in  Mission
$$$$ 3010 20th St

Everyone is trying to adapt to the changing times, and Quik Dog is succeeding with their new takeout-only restaurant and bar, focused on classic hot dogs and classic drinks (like gin and tonics). Walk up to their colorful corner on 20th St. in the Mission, place an order, and leave very happy in minutes.

Friends and Family

$$$$ 468 25th St

Friends and Family Bar is an East Bay treasure. Located in Oakland, their patio and parklet offer ample seating and a great variety of drinks that switches up from time-to-time. They often share the stories behind their cocktails on Instagram and are one of our favorite local businesses to support.

Michael Mina

$$$$ 252 California St

Michael Mina’s flagship restaurant in the Financial District serves incredible dishes like crab and Thai coconut soup and braised Jamaican oxtail. You can order cocktails to-go or enjoy them within the elegant dining room. Just a warning - reservations fill up fast.

Wingtip

$$$$ 550 Montgomery St

Wingtip is a social club located in a historic building in the Financial District. The sophisticated and swanky bar serves hundreds of different drinks, and members have the option of lounging in the main bar or ordering takeout.

Drexl

$$$$ 382 19th St

Drexl is strictly a drinks-only bar with a wide selection to choose from and the option to play skee ball (at least during normal times). While you may not be able to utilize the skee ball setup at the moment, the back patio is open for socially-distant, gin and tonic-focused hangouts.

Town Tavern

$$$$ 1437 Park St

In Alameda lies Town Tavern, a neighborhood bar amongst the other restaurants and shops on the island. Wash down some fried chicken wings with the hundreds of cocktail options and take advantage of the Happy Hour with great prices and a smaller crowd.

American Oak

$$$$ 2319 Santa Clara Ave

If you’re looking for a place to grab a good gin and tonic while also munching on some truffle fries and a burger, American Oak is your spot. Their drinks are excellent and the rustic restaurant consistently draws in people from all over the bay.

Sobre Mesa

$$$$ 1618 Franklin St

The Afro-Latino bar and restaurant is owned by Chef Nelson German, who also owns AlaMar Kitchen & Bar on Grand Avenue. The beautiful plants, bright colors, and art on display always make for a fun and memorable night out.

Oeste

$$$$ 730 Clay St

Rooftop bars are no doubt the dream during warmer weather and Oeste has you covered with open outdoor deck dining (along with an indoor cafe and bar). This place is owned by three women of color who came together and made their mark in Oakland. The comfort food dishes are made with love and offer a unique spin, drawing in different cultures and tastes.

Pizzaiolo

$$$$ 5008 Telegraph Ave

The Italian eatery in Oakland serves incredible wood-fired pizza - our personal favorite is the rapini sausage pie. Order a Botanist & Tonic to sip along with your meal and watch your worries go away. Or at least make you want to order more pizza and drinks.

Paradiso

$$$$ 685 Bancroft Ave

Paradiso in San Leandro has been around since 1996 with incredible food and service. Stop by as they celebrate 25 years and order a Botanist & Tonic, or ask for a riff on it from one of the talented staff.

Sidebar

$$$$ 542 Grand Ave

After a nice walk around Lake Merritt, pop over to Sidebar for an extensive drink menu and a nice view of the water. They are currently offering takeout and both indoor and outdoor dining.

The Morris

$$$$
American  in  Mission
$$$$ 2501 Mariposa St

The Morris checks off all the boxes when it comes to dining out. From the hanging lights to the charcuterie boards, this is a consistently good option for just about any occasion. You can reserve your outdoor table through the website to make sure you don’t miss out.

Genghix Asian Fusion

$$$$ 20855 Redwood Rd

Big portions, fresh sushi, and Peking pork chops - these are a few of our favorite things. Genghix offers takeout all day or the option to sit outside. The hospitality and service are exceptional and the wide variety of options make it a great spot for a dinner date.
