Bars and restaurants in Philly are closed for dine-in service, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit in a corner and eat beans out of a can until you forget what plates look like. You can still order takeout and delivery - and help support a lot of businesses while you do it. If you need some ideas, here are a bunch of places that are perfect for everything from a Big Night In to When You Want To Stock Your Fridge Or Pantry. When You’ve Already Spent Too Much Money On Delivery
The chef at Little Fish is making $15 bento boxes daily, full of salads, rice, fish, or whatever he feels like cooking. For the huge amount of food you get in each package, $15 is a steal. Reserve one by calling the restaurant at 267-455-0172.
Maybe you thought staying home would save you money. Well, it’s been less than a week and you’ve already made two trips to the grocery store and ordered delivery five times after realizing you can’t make a full meal out of any of your groceries. Fortunately, you can get a lot of food for not a lot of money from Don Barriga, a Mexican spot in West Philly that you can find on GrubHub. Get the enchiladas for $14 with a $4 side of guac, which is more than enough to feed two people.
A single burger or hoagie can cost you upwards of $12 at a lot of places. But at Hello Vietnam, you can order a very good banh mi (get it with char siu) for just $8. You’ll also want the $10 grilled beef wrapped in grape leaves, but you can always save those for when you reopen your delivery app tomorrow.
At Tom’s, you can get a whole meal for around $15 - including things like $4 scallion pancakes, $2 steamed pork buns, and $7 soup dumplings. Find it on any of the delivery apps, and make sure you moved your heated game of Scrabble off the table so you can eat.
Loco Pez has two locations, one in Fishtown and another in West Philly, so chances are you’re probably inside their delivery radius. Their tacos are just $2 each, and they’re filled with things like spicy chicken tinga, tender al pastor, and crispy fried shrimp.
The Halal Guys also have two locations - one in Old City and one in University City - both of which are currently delivering via Caviar. You can get huge portions of things like spicy bbq chicken and gyro meat served with pita, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes for just $10. If you’ve already run out of your dessert stash, you can also get a few $3.50 pieces of baklava.
The great Vietnamese shop in Fishtown is also super affordable, with things like $8 pho, $6.50 lemongrass chicken salad, and $4 shrimp rice paper rolls. They’re even selling their mocktails, like a coconut cucumber that’s delicious by itself and even better when you pour some vodka in it.
Sate Kampar is changing their menu every day, but the Malaysian spot has been doing $3 to-go tacos for lunch that look incredible. You can order them through this link and pick them up curbside from their shop in East Passyunk.
Almost all the entrees at Vietnam Cafe are under $15, including the excellent lemongrass porkchop. If you want to stock up, their catering menu is also available on Caviar, and you can get whole trays of chicken vermicelli noodles for around $40.
Both of Dim Sum House’s locations (University City and Rittenhouse) are open for delivery through Caviar, and their beef-stuffed scallion pancakes are a great way to spend $10.
When You Want To Stock Your Fridge Or Pantry
Perla is doing takeout for two right now, that comes with so much food you’ll be eating it for dinner for the next week. Every meal comes with family-size portions of garlic fried rice, pinakbet, lumpia, and your choice of lechon kawali, a half chicken, or a whole fish. You can place an order by emailing them at firstname.lastname@example.org, and they’re also doing no-contact pickup through their takeout window.
Instead of waiting in an hour-long line check-out lines at the supermarket, you can get bottles of wine and pantry items like homemade pasta and sauce delivered to you by Di Bruno Bros. - either through their website or on delivery apps.
While everyone else is buying large quantities of beans and bread, you could invest in stocking up on South Philly Barbacoa. They’re closed for daily business, but are currently doing pickup by the kilo on Saturdays and Sundays for their most popular offerings (tortillas, pancita, barbacoa, and masa). We recommend you buy it all and eat nothing but the best tacos in the city for the foreseeable future.
If you’ve run out of wine, and want a one-stop-shop for both bottles of pinot noir and piles of pasta, call Murph’s. They’re currently offering a shortened menu of Italian food like lobster ravioli and veal tortellacci, plus beer and wine, for takeout.
Bud & Marilyn’s delivery service is operating as usual on Caviar, which means you can get huge portions of filling dishes like Nashville hot chicken, crispy cheese curds, and fontina-stuffed meatloaf delivered right to your doorstep.
Ekta has some of the best butter chicken in the city, and for $15 on Caviar you’ll get enough to feed yourself for the next five days. Plus, most of their dishes come with a whole styrofoam container full of white rice - which you could eat with the butter chicken or pair with one of the 15 cans of soup you now have in your pantry.
Love & Honey’s catering menu is available for delivery on Caviar, which means you can essentially get enough chicken tenders or cornbread to fill your entire fridge. You’ll probably have to move one of the cakes you baked out of boredom to store them, or you could just finish them off in one sitting.
Go on Caviar, order a dozen bagels from the best bagel place in the city, freeze the ones you don’t eat. Repeat in 12 days.
If you’re looking for a huge plate of things like beef rendang and collard greens that taste just as good reheated, grab some takeout from Hardena. If you call the restaurant ahead of time at 215-271-9442, they’ll have your order waiting by the front door - or you can walk-in and order.
You’ll have to be ready to order as soon as they open up their site at 9am each morning to have a chance at getting any of their products. But if you can make that happen, Fiorella is doing takeout of their handmade pastas by the pound, as well as their sausage ragu and cacio e pepe sauce.
When You Want To Have A Big Night In
Cadence, a small BYOB in Fishtown, is one of our favorite date night spots in the city. And even though you can’t actually bring your date there right now, you can still create an at-home romantic dinner with one of their takeout dinners. For $60, you’ll get a family-style, three-course dinner for two. The meal changes every night, and features some of our favorites from their menu, like the herb dumplings and half roast duck. It’s not on delivery services (yet), but can be ordered by calling the restaurant directly at 215-419-7537.
At Helm in Kensington, you can get a three-course meal for $25, take it to-go, and eat it while you figure out how to turn doing a puzzle on your apartment floor into a romantic activity. Check their Instagram for a daily menu, which includes things like veal tagliatelle and black pepper cheesecake, and call the restaurant at 215-309-2211 to order.
In addition to Little Nonna’s normal delivery menu, which has a shortened version of what they serve for dinner, they’re also offering nightly three-course dinners for two for $39 that change daily, like huge portions of lasagna, plus sides of vegetables, bread, and dessert. The menu is posted to their Instagram every afternoon, plus you can find it on Caviar. If you want to pick it up, you’ll have to place your order with the restaurant directly by calling 215-546-2100.
Forsythia is trying to make quarantined weekends special - they’re offering special $30, three-course meals on Fridays through Sundays for pickup or delivery within a three-mile radius. The daily menu will be posted on Instagram, and you can expect to see things like duck a l’orange and crab and leek beignets. To order, call the restaurant at 215-644-9395.
Kalaya has the best Thai food in the city, and they’re serving an adjusted menu of family-style meals for both delivery and takeout, as long as you call and reserve your food in advance. Each meal comes with multiple courses, like stir-fried chicken and toasted beef curry, and the portions are big enough to feed two people. Also, if you had an upcoming reservation cancelled, they’ll waive your delivery fee.
If you haven’t been able to try Messina Club yet because you’re not a member, then this is your chance. Their full menu, including their incredible pierogies, is currently available to non-members for takeout, and if after your meal you decide you’d like a membership - just go to their website and purchase one. They’ve opened up 200 new spots and are using the proceeds to help out their staff over the next few weeks.
For $38 at June BYOB, you can pick up a whole chicken and enough sides to feed around 5 people, meaning that you can have a real, sit-down family meal with four roommates that you’ve recently gotten to know very well. If it’s just you and a significant other, you can also go for a half chicken and sides for $20. All you have to do is give the restaurant two-hours advance notice before you pick up - call them at 215-515-3242 or email email@example.com to reserve your meal.
Pumpkin is offering three-course pre-fixe meals for pickup for $35. The menu changes every day, but so far they’ve been cooking up things like sweet potato soup, Berkshire pork loin, and french toast panna cotta. Call the restaurant to place an order, and get ready for your big night of eating and watching a livestream of penguins at the zoo.
Hiroki is delivering two sushi meals ($45 for seven pieces and one handroll, or $60 for 10 pieces and two handrolls), as well as a $45 chirashi bowl and a $45 tuna bowl. If you’re celebrating an anniversary in isolation, this is one of your best options.
Bibou is doing $30, three-course meals for takeout, with dishes like lobster bisque and stuffed bone marrow. For the full menu and to place an order, call the restaurant at 215-965-8290.
When You’ve Already Run Out Of Beer & Wine
If you just wanted food, you could easily get Pub & Kitchen delivered to you via Caviar. But you’re here because almost all of the beer in your fridge is gone. If that’s the case, call Pub & Kitchen at 215-545-0350 and ask them to reserve you a six-pack or a few bottles from their wine list for pick up through their no-contact takeout window.
Call Triangle Tavern at 215-800-1992 for curbside pickup of any of their bottled or canned beers, plus $20 growler refills on any of their drafts.
One of the best deals on beer right now is through Yards Brewing. You can order beer for pickup via their website, and they’re giving everyone 20% off with the code “staysafe20” at checkout.
Every few days, Vetri has been selling bottles of wine from their cellar for 35% off. After it’s announced on their Instagram, you have to email them at firstname.lastname@example.org in advance, and you will be given a specific time to pick up your bottles. We can’t vouch for exactly which bottles they’ll be selling off next, but we do know that Vetri has one of the best selections of Italian wine in the city.
In addition to huge plates of delicious pasta, Murph’s is also doing pickup of whatever beer and wine they have on hand. All you need to do is call them ahead of time at 215-425-1847 and let them know what you want, and they’ll meet you curbside with your order.
Like with Pub & Kitchen, you can order food delivery from Standard Tap on Caviar. But if you want to add beer or wine, you’ll have to call them at 215-238-0630 and pick your order up at their to-go, non-contact window.
Johnny Brenda’s has a limited food menu (which can be found on their Instagram) for delivery on Grubhub, but what you really should order from this Fishtown bar is something from great their beer selection. They have six-packs and growlers of everything from White Claws to Cape May IPAs available for takeout from 12-8pm every day.
Call ahead to Walnut Street Cafe in University City to reserve some beer and wine for pickup from their huge collection. It’s all available at retail pricing - call the restaurant at 215-867-8067 to order.
Every other alcohol pickup spot in the city right now ends before midnight. But if you happen to run out of your favorite natural wine late at night, hit up Martha. They’re doing takeout and delivery until 1am every day, and you can find things like local wines and beers, plus a solid selection of ciders and seltzers. Call 215-867-8881 to place an order.
In addition to a shortened menu of things like pasta and appetizers (which you can find on their website), Cicala is also offering anything from their long, mostly Italian wine list for curbside pickup. Call the restaurant at 267-886-9334 to place an order.
Philadelphia Brewing is selling their entire inventory, including mix and match cases of beer for $33 and $11 six-packs of cider. There are also industry specials, and kegs for purchase - check their Instagram for more information, and call ahead to place an order at 215-427-2739.
If you’re running low on beer, you can pick up a bunch of Tired Hands four-packs at St. Oner’s by calling them ahead of time at (267) 930-8645. They’re also selling a small selection of natural wines, and a few items from their food menu, like delicious twice-cooked pork belly.
Fishtown Social has consolidated their entire supply of wine into their restaurant space, basically turning into a bottle shop. You can call ahead, purchase a few bottles for takeout, and pick them up on the corner of Frankford and Oxford.
When You Miss Your Favorite Hoagie
You can still get your roast beef or pork sandwich from the Nick’s in Northeast Philly by calling them at 215-745-1292. They’ll deliver from 12-10pm every day, and have a bunch of deals - like a family meal that includes four sandwiches, wings, and fries for $45. If you’re quarantining alone, you could also do a sandwich, wings, and a six-pack of beer for $20.
Look out for Stockyard’s daily specials (find them on their Instagram), which most recently included a marinated skirt steak sandwich with arugula, mushroom, fried egg, pickled onion, and swiss cheese on a toasted everything muffin. You can order by calling them at 215-977-9273, or through this link - and they’re doing both takeout and delivery.
They may not be on hoagie rolls, but the porchetta at Porcos makes for some of the best sandwiches you can eat in the city - especially the Cubano. And all you need to do is place an order for delivery here or by calling the restaurant ahead of time at 215-545-2939 and picking it up at their takeout window.
Liberty Kitchen might have the best Italian hoagies in the city - or at least in Fishtown - and they’re still selling them for pickup and delivery. And if you buy a Hoagie Club Card (available for either 5 hoagies for $55 or 10 hoagies for $110), you’ll get a 10% discount while also helping the owners support their employees.
In addition to providing you with all the pantry staples and bottles of wine you need, Di Bruno also makes some great hoagies. Click here to place an order for a Napoleon with turkey, brie, and fig jam, or just make your sandwich a part of a bigger grocery order by calling the restaurant ahead of time at 215-665-9220 and picking it up curbside from the store.
For a classic Jewish deli sandwich, Hershel’s is your best bet. You can pick up their piled-high corned beef sandwiches curbside at Reading Terminal Market, or if you call them at 215-922-6220, they’ll deliver anywhere within 10 miles of the shop.
The pastrami sandwich at High Street is another sandwich you need, and right now it’s available for delivery here. They’re also offering their freshly baked breads, in case you get really bored and decide you need to make your own sandwich today.
We’re glad that Poe’s reopened recently right inside of Human Robot Brewing in Kensington. Mostly because now we don’t have to order from two different places for dinner and beer. Just call Poe’s or use this link to place an order for one of their enormous, delicious sandwiches (the Pretty Ricky, with ham, pulled pork, melted swiss, pickles, and dijon, is our favorite), and ask them to hold some beer for you to pick up curbside as well.
Paesano’s is delivering their hoagies until midnight on weekends - not that there’s really all that much of a difference between a Tuesday and a Saturday night anymore. But if you’re craving a roast pork sandwich after a night of drinking the rest of your wine supply, getting delivery from Paesano’s is a great choice.
Just because restaurants have closed down doesn’t mean you’ll magically stop getting cheesesteak cravings every time you see a sandwich roll or even a wiz-colored puzzle piece. Fortunately, Woodrow’s is still making cheesesteaks - they’re still some of the best in the city, and you can get one delivered to your door in the next 30 minutes by clicking here.
When You’re Vegetarian Or Vegan
For a vegetarian or vegan brunch, Ants Pants is one of your best options. They have everything from avocado toast to a spicy tofu scramble, and they do delivery or takeout by calling either of their locations ahead of time.
Seven days a week from 3-9pm, 20th Street Pizza is offering their vegan pies made with cashew mozzarella for delivery and curbside pickup. Place an order by heading to their website.
V Street’s shortened menu includes some of their best dishes, like their spicy dan dan noodles and tempeh tacos - all of which are completely vegan. Both delivery and takeout starts at 11am (order here), and goes until 7pm every night.
Sky Cafe is still serving their entire menu for pickup and delivery by phone (call 215-271-1983), and there’s a lot of great vegetarian options. The noodle and rice bowls are our favorites, especially when you top them with things like veggie curry, marinated shredded coconut, or curry jackfruit. And the Indonesian salads they have, like the gado gado with steamed vegetables, fried tempeh, peanuts, and a sweet vinaigrette, are great for when you want something on the lighter side.

There are other great vegan and vegetarian dishes here as well if they’re out, like the collard greens and egg and tofu curry, but make sure to check their daily menu on Instagram before calling.
