We’ll just get this out of the way now: The Westlight is the end of Brooklyn. That sounds dramatic, but this fancy rooftop bar on top of the even fancier new William Vale hotel in Brooklyn feels like something you would find in Manhattan - and not even downtown Manhattan. That said, you can’t deny that these are some of the best views in the entire city, and the food and drinks are pretty good. Celebrate a birthday here, or bring an out-of-towner who doesn’t understand the difference between Brooklyn and Manhattan anyway. They’ll be impressed. Make a reservation in advance if you want to skip the line.

High Low Beverage Company is a bar in Bushwick that also happens to serve excellent Vietnamese-American dishes on weekends.
C'mon Everybody is a bar/venue in Bed-Stuy where you can catch some live music or listen to a DJ. Events are ticketed, but usually don't cost much.
If you want some decent Mediterranean small plates and an obscure glass of wine in Bushwick head to Petra. It’s great for a low-key date night.
