Aretsky’s Patroon is an upscale restaurant in Midtown where you go to eat a pricey rack or lamb and hope someone else pays for it, and it has a relatively casual rooftop that’s great for after-work drinks. It isn’t very high, but it has a big outdoor space with round tables and shrubbery, and it’s great for when you want to have a low-key martini and complain about The Mets or your job with a few people who are dressed business casual. There are also some snacks like fries and tuna tartare, if you need to pick at something.

Four years after our first review, Danji is still the restaurant we recommend most in the Midtown/Times Square area.
Five years after it opened, the original location of Totto Ramen is still packed pretty much all of the time. That's because it's still awesome.
Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong
Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong is quality Korean BBQ and a really good time in Midtown.

The Commodore is bad. Bad because merely looking at the food here will jack up your cholesterol thirty points, and worse because everything is so good that you’ll crave it all the time.
Quality cocktails and more than decent food on Smith Street. Brunch is a big deal here.

Westlight is the cocktail bar and restaurant on top of the William Vale hotel in Williamsburg.
Pod 39 Rooftop Bar
The Pod 39 Rooftop Bar is a great place to grab an outdoor drink in Murray Hill. Although if you go on a weekend, expect crowds.
Spyglass is the rooftop bar at the Archer Hotel, and it’s a pretty OK place to grab a cocktail in Midtown.
