Unless you’ve been seeing someone for several years, a date at a pub generally isn’t the best idea. But when the pub has tiled floors, exposed brick walls, potted plants, and a big backyard with picnic tables and umbrellas, it just might work. That’s what The Bonnie is like, and it also has a big dinner menu with everything from burrata and steak to tacos and cheese fries. And since this is consistently one of the busiest places in Astoria, you can probably meet someone else here if your date doesn’t go well.
The Deal: $17 For One Hour Of Beer/Wine; $30 For One Hour Of Liquor/Beer/Wine/Custom Cocktails
The Bonnie is one of our favorite bars in Astoria for several reasons. First off, it looks nice with its tiled floors and big booths. It also has a backyard with picnic tables, as well as some better-than-average bar food. It isn’t really where you go to take shots and have a night you’ll forget about later, but it works well for something slightly more grown-up.
The negroni at this Astoria bar is a bit different than typical negronis, since it comes with two kinds of vermouth (Dolin Rouge and Cocchi di Torino). If you want to stick around to order a second vermouth-forward negroni, you can always hang out at one of their garden tables.
Not only is The Bonnie’s big backyard with picnic tables and umbrellas open for outdoor service, but they’ve also set up a boardwalk area in front of the restaurant. You can go to their website to make a reservation ahead of time, and follow them on Instagram here for specials like homemade choco tacos.
This popular bar in Astoria has a big first come, first served backyard where you can order anything from burrata and steak to tacos and cheese fries any day until midnight.
