Las’ Lap is a narrow bar on Orchard Street with high ceilings, potted plants, floral bar stools, and a cocktail list that emphasizes ingredients like coconut, passionfruit, and rum. It’s a cool spot, and it’s ideal for when you want to catch up with a few people and hide from the massive crowds at other LES bars like Kind Regards and Mr. Purple. It still gets pretty busy here, and you’ll probably find it hard to get a seat (it’s a small place), but you can call ahead if you want to reserve a table and eat some dinner. They serve things like oxtail, jerk chicken spring rolls, and various arepas.

If you’re in Gowanus, and you need a normal bar that’s just a little nicer than a dive, go to Halyards. There’s a pool table and occasionally a DJ.
