Kish-Kash is a West Village spot from the people behind Taim, and the focus here is on couscous. It’s fast-casual during the day, but full-service and walk-in-only at night. Everything on the 12-item menu is under $21, and options range from starters (like a very good hummus with fresh-baked challah) to six couscous dishes with proteins like chicken tagine and short rib. The couscous is made in-house, and it’s light and fluffy, but otherwise, the food isn’t particularly memorable.

Buvette is a French restaurant in the West Village that’s great for a date or a really good breakfast. Just be aware that it can get pretty cramped.
