Bar Verde is a place in the East Village where you can get vegan Mexican food. It’s a little space that feels sort of like a modern wine bar, and, if you ignore the giant photo on the wall of cows being lead into what appears to be a slaughterhouse, it might be a good spot for a vegan date night. They make things like tempura avocado tacos and a “ceviche” with hearts of palm, and the food is overall fine. Some things are a little mushier than they should be, but the mole is pretty good. Just know that if you aren’t a vegan, there isn’t much point in coming here.
