American Bar is a West Village restaurant from the people behind Cafe Clover with wicker furniture, forest-green banquettes, and an almost overwhelmingly expansive American menu. It has everything from an egg salad sandwich to a bowl of chips with a side of caviar, and it’s a perfectly fine spot to eat a nicely cooked steak with a couple of picky diners. Sure, the menu’s a little boring, and most of the entrées cost more than $30 - but this place is open late, and it’s an attractive space with dim lighting, loud music, and little lamps on every table.
