It’s fall and everyone with a car and a fervent interest in gourds is headed to a pumpkin patch. If you’re staying in the city, read our roundup of new restaurants, pop-ups, and special events happening this week - including a corn maze shaped like Andy Warhol’s cow, a Guy Fieri drag show for charity, a women-in-beer fest, and more.

The Windjammer

$$$$ 552 Grandview Avenue

“What are you doing this weekend?” your friend might say. “Oh, not much, just going to a Guy Fieri themed drag-burlesque party at The Windjammer in Ridgewood.” This conversation could happen to you (and we hope it does). Expect dozens of people dressed up as Monsieur Fieri, as well as a set by the performer, Gal Fieri. The show starts at 9pm on Friday, October 15th, and there’s a suggested $10 donation supporting the exoneration of wrongly-convicted individuals through the The Innocence Project.

Queens County Farm Museum

Queens County Farm Museum

$$$$ 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy

A lot of the fall stuff happens outside of the city, but if you’re looking for a pumpkin patch that’s accessible via subway or rideshare, try Queens County Farm Museum. It’s been around since 1697 which means it’s automatically spooky and will inevitably contain plaques. They’re open for hayrides and pumpkin picking every day until 4pm, and their corn maze this year is themed after Andy Warhol’s cow.

Dacha 46

$$$$ 657 Washington Ave

One of our favorite restaurant pop-ups of 2021, Dacha 46, is raising money to turn their project into a catering and events business (and lease a commercial-grade kitchen). Consider supporting Dacha 46 this weekend via Kickstarter if you’re able. An added perk: if you show the donation receipt at Ursula in Crown Heights, you’ll get a free burrito.

Barbuto

$$$$ 113 Horatio St

Barbuto reopened on Wednesday, October 13th. The longstanding West Village restaurant moved into a new space on Horatio Street right before lockdown in spring 2020 (and has been closed since). Yes, the famous chicken with salsa verde is still on the menu, along with a couple pastas, roast vegetables, and other shareable Italian-leaning snacks. Reservations are available online, but so far there’s limited availability.

喺呢度

$$$$ 43 Bayard St

There’s a new place to eat Hong Kong-style breakfast in Manhattan’s Chinatown. 喺呢度 opened on Bayard Street in the beginning of October serving Spam and egg sandwiches, milk tea, and more. Read about more of the city’s latest restaurant openings on our weekly-updated guide.
