Restaurant Workers Living In Queens And Brooklyn Can Get Vaccinated At Two New Sites
Plus, are you a restaurant worker who's either been vaccinated or is trying to get an appointment? We want to talk to you.

This week the state opened two new vaccination centers at Medgar Evers College in Crown Heights and York College in Jamaica with a target goal of distributing 3,000 vaccines per day. For now, appointments at these new sites are only available to Brooklyn and Queens residents in neighboring zip codes.

Over 7 million New York State residents are currently eligible for the vaccine, including all restaurant workers. A reminder that anyone who is eligible can schedule an appointment through the city’s online portal here.

The new sites are part of the city’s larger goal to vaccinate 5 million New Yorkers by June. Mayor De Blasio maintains that NYC will hit this goal “so long as the supply is consistent and starts to grow each week”.

As of Wednesday morning, 1.57 million doses have been administered around the city. Of those 1.5 million doses, 154,000 of them were administered by federal pharmacy programs in NYC.

There’s no hard data available on how many restaurant workers have specifically been vaccinated. It seems to be happening, albeit slowly. At dinner a week ago, a restaurant owner we talked to said about a quarter of their staff had gotten the first shot. Another FOH staffer at a second restaurant said the same was true there.
