Beignets, oysters, and gumbo are all on the Mt. Rushmore of New Orleans’ greatest dishes. The fourth spot is reserved for the fried chicken at Willie Mae’s Scotch House. Located in the Treme, this place is vintage NOLA at its very best and feels more like you’re eating in someone’s house than an actual restaurant. It closes at 5pm daily and waits can be upwards of two hours during the lunch rush, so we recommend going for a late afternoon snack around 4pm.

Peche in the Warehouse District is a great spot for big groups, like when you and your 20 closest friends want to have a few drinks and eat seafood.
The Bulldog in Uptown is where to go when you want to drink a few beers on a patio, and get completely away from the French Quarter.
Next door to the restaurant is Cochon Butcher, which is way more casual than its neighbor, but still serves great sandwiches and drinks.

Cane & Table is either a restaurant with excellent drinks, or a cocktail bar with great food. Either way, it’s one of the best escapes in the Quarter.
