If you tried to keep track of every brand new restaurant in Miami, you might go a little bit crazy. So just read this list instead. These are the new restaurant openings we think you should know about - although keep in mind, we haven’t been to all of them. And for the ones we haven’t tried, we make no promises. If you’re looking for the new restaurants we’ve already checked out and loved, go to our Hit List.
Margot Natural Wine & Aperitivo Bar is a new Downtown spot from the team behind Broken Shaker. The bar specializes in natural wine, but they also serve cocktails as well as small plates like crudo and fondueo.
Benh Mi is a pandemic-pop-up-turned-restaurant in South Beach. It’s a small, takeout-friendly shop serving some really great bánh mì, fries, and more small plates like spring rolls and green papaya salad.
Forte by Chef Adrianne
Forte by Chef Adrianne is an Italian restaurant in Coral Gables. They have a raw bar, pizza, and a selection of pastas like ravioli, carbonara, and more.
Space Park is a big outdoor event space and concert venue that opens to the public on Fridays and Saturdays. There’s a local market, live music, and plenty of food options.
Doya is a new Wynwood restaurant that identifies as a “modern Aegean meze bar.” It’s fairly large, with lots of indoor seating and a menu of dishes like lamb kebab, octopus, and more.
La Traila is a new barbecue spot in Miami Lakes. They serve Texas-style barbecue dishes like brisket, ribs, and sausage in a casual dining room.
Benh Mi is a pandemic pop-up that opened a brick and mortar in South Beach, on Española Way. They serve five different kinds of bánh mì, bowls, and sides like fries, spring rolls, and green papaya salad.
Como Como is a Mexican seafood restaurant inside the Moxy Hotel in South Beach. They’ve got shrimp, octopus, and lobster cocktails, ceviches, and a lot more fish and seafood options you can share with a big group.
This Spanish restaurant is inside the National Hotel in South Beach and also has some outdoor seating with a view of the pool. The menu has dishes like paella, patatas bravas, octopus, and more.
The Shores is a new seafood vendor inside the Citadel, a food hall in Little River. They have a raw bar selection as well as some great fried seafood sandwiches. The Dungeness crab dip should also be on the table.
BackRoom is a new bar in Sunset Harbour. It’s located behind (and run by) the Diya team. They have a pool table, occasional live music, and cocktails.
La Yolanda Mezcaleria Bar
This new mezcal bar is located in Little River. It’s a narrow space, with bar seating, some couches, and a disco ball.
The former Concrete Beach Brewery space is now a Dogfish Head brewery. They (obviously) have beer, but also serve bar food like wings, ceviche, loaded waffle fries, and empanadas.
Temakase is a South Beach sushi spot specializing in hand rolls. The restaurant is located inside The Sagamore hotel, and has tasting menu options ranging from $22 to $50, as well as a la carte rolls.
Kaori is a Mediterranean/Asian restaurant inside the SLS LUX Brickell. Their menu includes crudo options, salads, and large plates like octopus, braised short rib, and seared salmon.
Zitz Sum is a great new Gables restaurant we already added to our Hit List. They serve dumplings, along with other great dishes like charred cabbage with habanero butter, snapper crudo, and Okonomiyaki style fried rice.
Nossa Omakase is a new omakase spot in South Beach. The menu is Japanese/Brazilian fusion, and dinner here costs $225-$250 per person for 16-18 courses.
Alidoro is a new Italian sandwich vendor inside The Oasis, a new outdoor complex in Wynwood. Our friends in New York like the SoHo location a lot.
Prince Street Pizza
Prince Street Pizza is another vendor inside The Oasis. They’re a popular New York pizza spot that does big, thick square slices. Editor’s Note: the ownership of Prince Street Pizza has a history of racial discrimination, which you can read more about here.
Another of The Oasis’ six new food vendors, Chikin is a fried chicken sandwich spot from the team behind former Wynwood restaurant Laid Fresh.
Buya Dumplings + Buns
Buya Dumplings + Buns is an Oasis food vendor from the team behind Wynwood’s Buya, a (mostly) Japanese restaurant we like a lot. Like the name implies, this spot focuses on dumplings and buns.
Another Oasis vendor, Los Buenos is a taco stand from the Coyo Taco team. They haven’t released their menu yet, but you can probably expect tacos and other Mexican dishes similar to Coyo.
And, finally, the last of the Oasis vendors: Mr. Mandolin. This spot comes from the Mandolin team, and they already have a MiMo location. You can expect gyros, lavash wraps, and kebabs.
Paperfish is a Nikkei restaurant in Brickell with indoor and outdoor seating. They have a long menu with ceviche, tiradito, nigiri, maki, and sashimi.
King Of Racks BBQ
King of Racks was a Miami food truck that just opened up a brick and mortar location in Kendall. They’ve got the barbecue classics: pulled pork, ribs, and brisket.
This new vegan bakery is located in Coral Gables, and it’s a good spot for a quiet breakfast or lunch. The croissants are good, and they turn them into sandwiches too.
Miami Diner, which already has a Downtown location, just opened in the old David’s Cafe space. They’ve got one of those very large diner menus, with burgers, breakfast, milkshakes, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and more.
Zz’s Sushi Bar
ZZ’s Sushi Bar is a new Design District restaurant from the Carbone team, but it’s a membership-based restaurant. So you can only eat here if you are a “member” or a guest of a member.
Shelter is a Williamsburg restaurant that just opened a location in Wynwood. The menu is a blend of Italian and Argentinian food, with pizza, crispy artichokes, empanadas, and more. The space, which features a giant moose head sticking out of the wall, can seat about 160 people.
This new South of Fifth spot serves Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s mostly a breakfast and lunch spot, but they also have a Happy Hour menu with discounted drinks and snacks from 4-7pm.
Seasy is a Mediterranean seafood restaurant on Miracle Mile. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, lots of blue and white, and dishes like gnocchi, snapper, and grilled branzino.
Layla is a restaurant inside the Kayak Miami Beach hotel with indoor and outdoor seating along a little canal. This place is located in the former Mama Joon space and also serves a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean menu.
Hapa Kitchen and Eatery
Hapa is a new vendor inside South Beach’s recently reopened Time Out Market. They serve Hawaiian dishes like spam musubi, roast pork, and poke.
Mamma Parmigiana is a delivery-only restaurant specializing in pasta and various forms of chicken parm. The menu includes chicken parm over penne pomodoro, a chicken parm sandwich, and a 10-inch chicken parm “pizza.”
Tigre is an Argentine restaurant and cocktail bar in the Upper East Side. It’s located along Little River, and has waterfront outdoor seating.
Eleventh Street Pizza is a new pizza spot from the Fooq’s team. It’s opening Thursday, March 4, inside the former Fooq’s space, and will serve New York-style pizzas and square Sicilian slices. They’re taking orders online.
Salt & Straw is a great Portland ice cream chain that just opened a Wynwood location (with a Coconut Grove one coming soon). Flavors include bacon biscuit crumble with pickle caramel, pineapple coconut cream pie, salted coconut grapefruit daiquiri, and more.
Cote is an upscale Korean steakhouse in the Design District. Servers grill your fancy cuts of steak on little charcoal grills that are built into the table.
Kush has teamed up with the owners of Tobacco Road (which was, at one point, the oldest bar in Miami) to bring the classic Brickell spot back - sort of. It’s not in the same location, but it does feature a lot of the bar’s old decor and a food and drink menu inspired by the original Tobacco Road.
Casa Isola is an Italian restaurant from the Pubbelly team. It’s right next door to Pubbelly’s South Beach location, and serves big portions of dishes like rigatoni alla vodka and veal parm. Check out our Instagram ride-along to see more.
Baywood is a cafe open for breakfast and lunch in MiMo. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and serve things like cauliflower steak, fried chicken sandwiches, and acai bowls.
Cervecería La Tropical is an indoor/outdoor brewery and restaurant in Wynwood. There’s beer, live music, and a Caribbean menu with dishes like tostones, jerk chicken wings, and ceviche.
Luca Osteria is a Coral Gables Italian restaurant that serves things like cache e pepe, grilled monkfish, and short rib pappardelle.
Pilo’s Tequila Garden
Pilo’s Tequila Garden is an outdoor restaurant and bar in Wynwood with a lot of tequila and tacos.
Wakyu is an Andean restaurant in Wynwood. The menu has a lot of fish, meat, and a raw bar. See the full menu online.
Chela’s Beer Garden
Chela’s Beer Garden is a Mexican beer garden in Miami Lakes, serving beer, cocktails, and tacos in an outdoor space.
Serena is a Mexican rooftop restaurant in the Moxy Hotel. They have cocktails, tostadas, quesadillas, ceviche, and more.
Man vs Fries
Man Vs Fries is a delivery-and-takeout-only concept serving burritos with french fries stuffed inside. There are other things on the menu too, which you can see on their website.
Simply Good Pizza
Simply Good Pizza is a pizza stand that opened inside the Lincoln Eatery food hall in South Beach. Pie options include classic pepperoni, a breakfast pizza with bacon and an egg, and guava and cheese.
Also new to Lincoln Eatery: the vegan spot Plant Theory, which has a menu of plant-based sandwiches, dessert, and more.
Uchi is an upscale sushi restaurant from Austin that just opened a location in Wynwood. They have both indoor and some patio seating. You’ll most likely need a reservation to eat here, and you can make one online.
Carbone is a New York Italian restaurant that just opened a big South Beach location in the old Upland Space. You can make a reservation online, though we haven’t been able to find an open table yet.
Heartland is an outdoor restaurant in Little Haiti. They have a lot of tables spread out in a big lot, and the menu includes things like steak, fish, and wine. There’s also live music. Check out our ride-along to see more.
Bay 13 is a Coral Gables brewery and restaurant. There’s outdoor and indoor seating, beer (obviously), and a food menu with things like smoked fish dip, sausages, and meat pies.
EST. 33 Thai Craft Brewery and Kitchen
EST. 33 is a Thai brewery and restaurant located in the Brickell City Centre. They serve things like red curry crab croquettes, lemongrass chicken, and pad Thai.
Almacen Central is a breakfast and lunch spot in Little River. They have quinoa salad, skirt steak, cauliflower steak, and more.
Boss Cow is a Brickell raw bar, with plenty of oysters and things like lobster rolls and clam ramen. They have indoor and outdoor seating. See more on our ride-along.
Osteria Morini is an Italian restaurant located inside the Palomar Hotel in South Beach. They have indoor and outdoor seating along a little canal.
Salvaje is a Japanese rooftop restaurant in Midtown with sushi, steaks, and dumplings. You can make a reservation online.
Lido Restaurant and Champagne Bar at The Surf Club
Lido Restaurant (no relation to The Lido Bayside Grill at The Standard) is a Mediterranean restaurant inside the Surf Club. It takes over the space once occupied by Le Sirenuse. You can make a reservation online.
Baia Beach Club
Baia Beach Club is an outdoor restaurant and lounge in the Mondrian South Beach. They have seafood like ceviche and tuna tartare as well as salads, flatbreads, and a few bigger entrees. You can make a reservation online.
Ojo De Agua
Ojo De Agua is a Mexican chain with a location inside the SLS Brickell. They have tacos, chilaquiles, and sandwiches.
Minty Z is a new Coconut Grove restaurant specializing in vegan dim sum. They have things like har gow with “vegan shrimp,” carrot bao buns, and shumai with plant-based beef. They also have cocktails, beer, and sake.
Like the name implies, Mr. OmaKase is a new omakase spot in Downtown Miami. The sushi counter is currently seating eight guests, offers three omakase options ranging from $69 per person to $119 per person, and is taking reservations online.
Jeepney is a new Filipino vendor inside Wynwood’s 1-800-Lucky. Our friends in New York are fans of their NYC location. The team is also opening up a second concept inside 1-800-Lucky called Tita Baby’s, which will serve desserts like cornbread bibingka and halo halo.
Sweet Melody Palmetto Bay
One of our favorite ice cream places in Miami just opened a new location. Sweet Melody now has a scoop shop with some indoor seating in Palmetto Bay. Every flavor here is just wonderful.
The Miami Diner
Miami Diner is a retro Downtown diner serving American diner food like eggs benedict, waffles, burgers, and more.
Ted’s Burgers is a new smash burger pop-up operating out of Wynwood’s J. Wakefield on Saturdays at 2pm and Sundays at noon until sold out. We already stopped by to try one, and loved every bite of the extremely smashed smash burger.
River Oyster Bar isn’t new, but the great Brickell restaurant recently reopened inside a new space a few blocks away from its old location. The new spot is bigger with outdoor seating - but still has the same great seafood.
Momosan is a Japanese restaurant in Wynwood. The main attraction here is ramen, but they also have dishes like gyoza, sushi, poke, and bao buns.
La Natural is a Little River restaurant serving pizza, natural wine, and various vegetable dishes.
Cafe Kush is the latest spot from Kush Hospitality. It’s located inside MiMo’s newly renovated Selina Gold Dust Hotel, with indoor and outdoor seating. Cafe Kush calls itself a “Miami-Style bistro” that puts a “Kush twist on French fare.”
Freehold is a new bar and restaurant in Wynwood. The NYC-based concept has a cafe where you can work during the day, and a big outdoor courtyard, where they serve New York-style pizza and cocktails.
Itamae is an excellent Nikkei restaurant in the Design District, open with outdoor seating. The menu has ceviche, tiradito, sushi rolls, natural wine, and more delicious things.
The Bar Lab team (from Broken Shaker and 27) has opened a new taco spot called Taqueria Hoja in Downtown Miami. Taco options include al pastor, koji sweet potato, carne asada, and more.
After an initial opening and then closing during the pandemic, Overtown’s Red Rooster recently reopened with indoor and outdoor seating. See the menu here.
2 Korean Girls
2 Korean Girls is a new delivery and takeout-only Korean restaurant in Coconut Grove. They serve dishes like bibimbap, kimchee fried rice, and customizable bowls. You can order online for delivery or pick-up at their Coconut Grove ghost kitchen.
Miami’s first location of the popular salad chain just opened up in Coral Gables. They specialize in the kind of salads you order for lunch on a Monday after a weekend of eating nothing but pizza.
Planta Queen Coconut Grove
Planta Queen is a Coconut Grove restaurant and another outpost of South Beach’s Planta. This one’s a little different - with a menu of Asian dishes like dumplings, sushi, and pad Thai. It’s all still vegan though.
Perl is a restaurant in North Miami Beach with a minimal interior and a menu with things like grilled hearts of palm, crudos, a chicken katsu sandwich, and some meat and fish entrees.
Tayrona Restaurant & Patio
Tayrona is a new (mostly) Colombian restaurant in Allapattah from the team behind Wood. There’s outdoor seating, a full bar, and a menu with empanadas, arepas, and sushi.
Hiyakawa is a new Japanese restaurant from the team behind Wabi Sabi. Hiyakawa also serves Japanese food, with a menu that includes sushi, yakimono, an omakase option, and more.
Lil’ Laos is a Laotian pop-up that’s been bouncing around town for the last few months. But they finally got themselves a more permanent home inside The Citadel and are now open for dine-in and takeout.
Naan Indian Eats
Naan Indian Eats is a new pop-up operating out of Taquiza South Beach. They’re serving Indian food, with a menu that includes samosas, kofta, chicken tikka, tandoori shrimp, and more. See the full menu online.
Myron Mixon's Pitmaster BBQ
Myron Mixon’s is a barbecue restaurant in Brickell. They’ve got the barbecue standards: wings, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and more.
Hachidori is a ramen spot in Little River. The restaurant does more than ramen too, including pork gyoza, donburi bowls, hand rolls, and more Japanese dishes.
Botta is a little restaurant on 79th Street Causeway that serves pizza al taglio, focaccia paninis, and lasagna. There’s no indoor seating (it’s more like a pizza ventanita), but they do have a couple of outdoor tables.
Public Square is a self-described American grill in Coral Gables that took over the old Shula’s 347 Grill space. They serve meat, seafood, and other things that do well on a grill.
Mayami Mexicantina is a new Wynwood restaurant that comes from the El Patio team. It’s a very large space and will serve tacos and other Mexican dishes.
Casa Tiki is a new Calle Ocho bar from the same people behind Drunken Dragon and Rácket. They just serve tiki drinks here - no food.
Buya is a Wynwood restaurant that serves yakitori, ramen, and more Japanese dishes. If you find yourself here, order the tempura beech mushroom.
United States Burger Service is a new vendor inside The Citadel. They make some of the best burgers in Miami as well as a very nice fried chicken sandwich and fries.
The Doral Yard
The Doral Yard, the new location from The Wynwood Yard team (which sadly had to close) is now open in Downtown Doral. Food options include vegan bowls, churros, dim sum, paletas, and more. They’re open every day but Monday.
Vegan Cuban Cuisine
Vegan Cuban Cuisine is a Kendall restaurant serving vegan versions of Cuban dishes like imperial rice, picadillo, and croquetas with soy-based ham.
LA Toast is a new spot on 79th Street that serves a handful of different avocado toasts - topped with things like smoked salmon, hard boiled eggs, and goat cheese. You can take it to-go or eat it at one of the little tables outside.
The Caja Caliente food truck that was parked in Edgewater for a few years has found a new home in the Design District. You can now find it at 95 NE 40TH St, serving tacos, tamales, ceviche, and more.
Ornos Estiatorio is a very large, 160-seat Greek restaurant in Aventura. They are accepting reservations online.
Mamey is a restaurant from the Ghee team inside Coral Gables’ Thesis Hotel. It has a Caribbean-influenced menu, with dishes like yellowfin tuna tostones, wahoo ceviche, and peri peri chicken. They are accepting orders for takeout online as well.
Flour & Weirdoughs is a Key Biscayne bakery with classic baked goods like baguettes and cinnamon rolls, as well as some more unique things like brisket croissants. They have a handful of sandwiches too. You can see the menu and order online here.
The new Vietnamese spot in Little Haiti is almost ready to celebrate its grand opening. For now, they’re offering takeout and you can order their banh mis, rice and noodle bowls, and pho online.
Frice, maker of some of the best ice cream in Miami, finally got its first scoop shop inside The Citadel. It’s now open Wed-Sun from noon to 9pm in the Little Haiti food hall.
La Giulietta is a new Italian restaurant in Little River’s Ironside complex that replaced Ironside Bakery. The new concept is pretty much a more fleshed-out version of Ironside Bakery, with a bigger menu that’s a mix between a bakery and a pasta place. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
La Tiendita Taqueria
The Wynwood taco spot first opened at the end of May, but had to shut down their indoor dining shortly after. Now they’ve debuted a taco window with some outdoor seating. They also have margaritas.
This Basque restaurant is inside Allapattah’s Rubell Museum. It’s not fully open yet, but is operating as a lunch pop-up Wed-Sun, from 11am-3:30pm. The menu includes things like Iberico ham croquets and wild mushroom paella.
