Takao is a Brentwood sushi classic that couldn’t be more Brentwood. The crowd is a mix of older couples having (very) early dinners, ex-fraternity brothers and their dates spending a lot on omakase, families, and groups of friends catching up for a fat-free dinner of raw fish. The sushi is fine, but nothing particularly special - while the fish is fresh, the dishes feel a little stuck in the ’90s. Although they definitely don’t come at ’90s prices. This is Brentwood after all.
