Röckenwagner Bakery
Where we've featured it
This family owned-bakery in Mar Vista is our go-to for everything from jalapeno-cheddar pretzels to whenever we forget to feed our sourdough starters but still need something doughy. And as part of Pies For Justice, for the first time ever, they’ll be sharing their blau-berry/blueberry pie with the world. Although you probably shouldn’t eat it in front of your sourdough starter. Or maybe you could just take care of it?
Rockenwagner Bakery sells their baked goods in all kinds of markets (your local Whole Foods, for example). But head to their tiny storefront on Washington in Culver for the freshest, and thus, best, versions of these baked goods. They’ve got baguettes starting at $3, sourdough or olive bread from $7, and a whole bunch of stuff we wouldn’t even think about trying to make at home (mostly because we couldn’t), like hamburger buns, brioche rolls, and jalapeño-cheddar pretzels. Pick-up daily from 8am-3:30pm.
Rockenwagner is a family-owned bakery and cafe in Mar Vista that is currently selling County Line Harvest boxes and local fruit packages, as well as breads, pantry items, and packaged foods like Dear John’s “TV Dinners”. Open daily from 6:30am-4pm with both pick-up and delivery available.
