We’re not exactly sure who was screaming out to reinvent the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but PBJ.LA in Grand Central Market is here doing it anyway. Pick your sandwich (they have everything from regular PB&J to one with espresso peanut butter and a dark chocolate raspberry jam, and another with pine nut butter and tomato jam), and they’ll make it in front of you before putting it into a torture contraption-looking machine that seals it and takes the crusts off. By the time you’re eating the thing, you’ll realize you just paid at least $5 for a fancied-up Uncrustable that’s no better than something you can make at home.
