As much as you love being in your apartment (especially when you fill it with bouquets of flowers from the Echo Park farmer’s market), we’re pretty sure there’s also a part of you that’s itching to get outside. That’s where we come in. Here are all of the new, exciting things to do and eat in LA during the week of May 10th.

Ashley Randall

Crudo e Nudo

$$$$ 2724 Main St

Starting this Wednesday, May 12th, Crudo e Nudo will be offering a new $15 lunch break deal at their Santa Monica outpost. The meal comes with either a vegan little gem salad or Tehachapi Grain rice bowl, along with your choice of half a tuna toast, a shrimp cocktail, or four oysters.

Border X Brewing

$$$$ 4400 E Gage Ave,

This Saturday, May 15th, Border X Brewing is hosting a South East LA block party in Bell, featuring locally made art, craft beer, and lots of food trucks. In addition to their signature brews, you’ll find dishes made by Masa Tacos, Carnitas el Momo, and Mr. Menundo.

Bang Bang Handmade Noodles

$$$$
$$$$ 5040 York Blvd

The incredibly popular Highland Park pop-up is headed to the Westside. From Friday, May 14th through Sunday, May 16th, you’ll be able to find Bang Bang Noodles at the Citizen Public Market in Culver City, where they’ll be serving their spicy tingling cumin noodles and beef shank soups from 11am-9pm. Walk-up orders only.

Wine & Eggs

$$$$ 3129 Glendale Blvd

The tiny Atwater Village market just added a new, super cute bath mat to their store. It comes in the shape of an over-easy egg, and it’s the only thing we’ve been able to think about for the last 24 hours.

Dumpling Monster

Dumpling Monster

$$$$ 7318 Santa Monica Blvd Ste 60

In honor of AAPI month, the Fowler Museum at UCLA is hosting a Global Cuisine Cooking Lesson with Dumpling Monster, a West Hollywood restaurant known for their traditional Shanghainese food. Join chef and owner Perry Cheung, as he teaches via Zoom how to make his famous pork and shrimp wontons, chicken and chive dumplings, and a homemade dipping sauce. It’s all happening on May 25th and is completely free, but you will need a reservation. RSVP here.

You know it’s going to be a good week when a package you forgot you ordered finally arrives on your doorstep. Oh, and when Chainsaw brings back their strawberry lilikoi sherbet. Sweet and tart, it’s one of our favorite flavors from the Echo Park pop-up, and is available for a limited time only this Friday, May 14th, from 1-6pm. Walk-ups only.

Mama’s Drive-By Kitchen dropped a new collaboration with Beverly Soon Tofu this week… and promptly sold out in under five minutes. Each set came with the now-closed Korean restaurant’s signature soon tofu, plus a ceramic traditional bowl and/or limited print t-shirt. Punching yourself for not setting a reminder earlier? Us too. But not to worry, Mama’s will return next week with a brand-new merch/restaurant collaboration on Wednesday, May 19th at 12pm. We’re telling you extra early for a reason.

SOME OF OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS ARE HIRING!

Pizzana is hiring servers, hosts, prep cooks, and dishwashers for their Brentwood and West Hollywood locations. Perks include discounts, sick leave, and more. Apply by emailing your resume to jobs@pizzana.com.

King's Deli

Deli  in  Burbank
$$$$ 109 N Pass Ave

Over in Burbank, Kings Deli is hiring for part-time hours, Monday through Saturday. They’re looking for team members with kitchen prep/restaurant experience. Apply by emailing kingsdelila@gmail.com.

JUST SOMETHING NICE

Gusto Bread

$$$$ 928 Chestnut Ave

One of our favorite bakeries in Long Beach celebrated Mother’s Day with this beautiful drawing by Dave Van Pattern. Does this count as something “new and exciting you can eat/do this week?” Technically no. But it did make us smile.
