We weren’t expecting a great restaurant to be on the 18th floor of a building on the Northwestern hospital campus, but that’s exactly where we found Woodwind. The menu has strange-sounding-but-actually-delicious small plates like a sweet and savory Big Mac-inspired foie gras bao, and pomegranate roasted squash with chunky peanut butter, plus larger options like tender lamb ribs glazed with lavender and honey. The upscale space has a beautiful view of downtown, and the food makes it a fun option for dinner in Streeterville. Just try to ignore any “Code Blue” announcements while walking through the lobby.

Excellent sushi in an unlikely spot. This tiny restaurant at the bottom of the Hilton hotel on Mies van der Rohe Way street is worth a trip for any real sushi fan.
