Juniper is a modern and fancy-ish Italian spot in East Austin that’s surprisingly under-the-radar. The dining room is big and bright, and there’s a nice patio in the front. The menu has traditional pastas, but also small plates and lots of vegetables. It’s a good place to bring parents for brunch (likely without a wait) or to have a grown-up dinner with a friend.

Lustre Pearl East
Lustre Pearl East is just like the original Lustre Pearl on Rainey, but with more outdoor space and way fewer UT students.
A casual, quick sushi spot on the East Side with great handrolls and a 45-minute omakase Friday and Saturday nights.
Jacoby’s Restaurant & Mercantile
Jacoby’s is the kind of place people outside of Texas dream about. The food isn’t life-changing, but the huge backyard and charm make up for it.
